Geoff Clark - Chief Executive Officer
Geoff Clark has extensive experience in financial, technical and general management roles in several public and private technology companies, most recently with SQFive Intelligent Oilfield Solutions Ltd. a private oil and gas technology and services company. Before joining SQFive, Geoff was CFO of TSX listed Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd. While with Guest-Tek, Geoff was instrumental in completing two major acquisitions, a share buyback, and several private placements of debt and equity. Prior to joining Guest-Tek, Geoff was CFO of Pan Terra Industries, a TSX Venture listed company. Geoff figured prominently in Pan Terra’s CBO (change of business) transaction from a junior oil and gas to environmental services organization. Prior to Pan Terra, Geoff was a co-founder of Revolve Magnetic Bearings Inc. a supplier of magnetic levitation systems. Geoff held a variety of position with Revolve including CFO and V.P. Marketing. Geoff secured several rounds of financing for Revolve and was instrumental in Revolve’s eventual sale to SKF, the Swedish bearing manufacturer. Geoff holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
Dr. Michal Okoniewski - Chief Scientific Officer & Co-Founder
A renowned expert in applied electrodynamics and RF/antenna engineering, Michal has a proven history of developing leading-edge scientific solutions for the electronic, medical and energy industries. With over 25 years of experience, Michal has pioneered hardware acceleration of computational electromagnetics, authoring over 350 technical publications and holding several patents. His GPU accelerated FDTD solver revolutionized the engineering of electronic devices and more recently his patents and knowledge are being applied in the energy industry for the production of heavy oils in unconventional reservoirs. Prior to co-founding Acceleware in 2004, Michal worked with TR-Labs and provided consulting services for the electronic and biomedical industries in North America and Europe. Dr. Okoniewski has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University, Gdansk and is a Fellow of IEEE. He is a Professor for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department with the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Mike Tourigny - VP Commercialization, RF Heating
Mike is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of experience in building high growth businesses based on disruptive innovation. Mike started his career in the oil and gas industry before moving to the technology sector, where he worked on the development and deployment of multiple ground breaking technologies in various business sectors. In 2013, Mike made the move to specialize in radio frequency (RF) heating systems for oil sands and heavy oil production with Acceleware Ltd.
Mike’s goal is to commercialize Acceleware’s RF heating, and to generate explosive but responsible growth within the oil sands and heavy oil sectors. Awareness of the need for thoughtful applied innovation, combined with his understanding of complexities inherent to deploying technological advancements in an established industry, results in Mike’s ability to successfully expedite change. Along with his respect for both the heavy oil industry and its’ political realities, this translates into the ability to navigate through barriers associated with business growth and development. Mike has worked in energy, utilities, telecommunications, and technology services sectors in Canada and internationally. Mike holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of British Columbia.
Laura McIntyre - Vice President, Engineering
Laura is a Professional Engineer with over 15 years of industry experience, the majority of which involved work on thermal in-situ projects at two major oil sands producers. Throughout her career, Laura has held senior technical roles and led successful teams across a broad range of operational areas including drilling and completions, production, development and reservoir engineering. In her new role with Acceleware, Laura will have primary responsibility for the successful execution of the RF XL commercial-scale test and the continued development of the Company’s proprietary RF XL technology solutions. Laura earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and remains a passionate supporter of advancing opportunities for women in energy through mentorship and development initiatives.
