Radio Frequency Heating for Canadian Oil Sands - An Emerging Technology
Join Acceleware for this complimentary lunch and learn as we provide a technology update for radio frequency heating. An emerging technology, RF heating is an innovative thermal enhanced oil recovery method with the potential to provide an efficient production solution for heavy oil in general and bitumen in particular.
This presentation will include an overview of RF heating system and how it can be applied in clastics, carbonates and other reservoir rock types. Simulation examples include vertical and horizontal deployments for improving the oil recovery, as well as application for other purposes, such as oil sampling and lifting. An overview of Acceleware's engineering services and simulation application AxHeat™ will be provided.

Pedro Vaca, Senior Reservoir Engineer, Acceleware Ltd.
Pedro is the Senior Reservoir Engineer for Acceleware’s radio frequency heating division. He joined Acceleware in 2012 and brings with him over 30 years of heavy oil and oil sands experience. He is the lead reservoir engineer for a number of collaborative electromagnetic research projects and he has played an integral role in developing AxHeat™ Acceleware’s radio frequency simulation application.
His previous experience also includes reservoir engineering projects for Norwest Corporation, Calgary, and PDVSA, Venezuela. Pedro has a Masters in Applied Mathematics from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela.
