Production of hydrogen and graphite via EMPowered Heat generated methane pyrolysis with energy input of ~ 30 MJ/kg H2 can heat/dry municipal solid waste (MSW) and prepare it for conversion to synthetic fuels, and could recycle post-consumer plastics into petrochemical building blocks.
Acceleware has completed TRL 4 testing of our methane pyrolysis reactor and the EMPowered Heat dryer is readily adaptable to drying MSW.
How It Works
The CTI technology:

has been developed over seven years and is currently operating at a 2 MW maximum power level

is proven and capable of scaling to over 10 MW

provides a rapid path to scale hydrogen production to industrial levels of 20 tons /day at 10 MW while maintaining unparalleled energy conversion efficiency.

EMPowered Hydrogen Project
Acceleware and Aurora Hydrogen planned to collaborate to develop what is expected to be the most efficient, clean, and scalable hydrogen (H2) production process designed to date, supporting a transformative opportunity for Canada’s energy sector.
The two-year project will employ a novel methane pyrolysis approach, utilizing electricity converted to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic waves via Acceleware’s Clean Tech Inverter (CTI).
The resulting technology could be applied in distributed hydrogen production, to supply hydrogen in locations farther away from major production hubs but that still have access to natural gas. This solution could overcome the challenges of transporting hydrogen over long distances while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and significantly reducing cost.
