Acceleware is an innovator of clean-tech enhanced heavy oil recovery technology and a developer of software solutions for the oil industry.
We are comprised of three business units: Radio Frequency (RF) Heating; Seismic Imaging Software; and custom Software Acceleration Services.
Our low-cost, low-carbon production technologies for heavy oil and oil sands are materially different from any other innovation on the market today. RF XL and Modular RF use no water, require no solvent, have a small physical footprint, can be redeployed from site to site, and can be adapted to a multitude of reservoir types, while greatly reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs).
Acceleware’s RF energy commitment is threefold:
- To dramatically improve production economics;
- To greatly increase access to vast unproven oil reserves; and
- To significantly improve the environmental performance of oil sands and heavy oil production.
Seismic Imaging Software:
Our seismic imaging software solutions are state of the art for high fidelity imaging, providing the most accurate and advanced imaging available for oil exploration in complex geologies. We offer both off-the-shelf software via our network of distributors, as well as custom seismic software solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients.
Software Acceleration Services:
As experts in programming for multi-core CPUs and massively parallel GPUs, Acceleware’s professional services team specializes in accelerating computationally intense applications for clients to speed up product design, analyze data and help them make better business decisions. Acceleware’s products and services are used by some of the world’s largest energy and engineering companies. Acceleware also specializes in industry leading GPU training courses, available both publicly and privately.
Acceleware was founded in 2004 and pioneered the use of the graphics processing unit (“GPU”) as a compute platform. The first product, AxFDTD™, continues to be sold to many Fortune 500 companies such as Blackberry, Samsung, LG, Nikon, Merck, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Acceleware then entered the seismic imaging market in 2008 with a GPU accelerated Kirchhoff Time Migration solution, followed by a Reverse Time Migration (“RTM”) library, AxRTM™ in 2009. In 2013, Acceleware introduced AxWave™, then AxFWI™, the current ‘state-of-the-art’ full waveform inversion solution in 2014.
Acceleware continues to expand the reach of these solutions by making them accessible via the cloud, starting with the AxWave seismic forward modelling application for survey design, and synthetic seismic modeling.
In the time spent working on the aforementioned technologies, Acceleware identified a growing need to dramatically reduce the cost of production and the environmental impact of heavy oil and oil sands production. In 2010, Acceleware began working to develop new ways to apply RF energy to mobilize heavy oil and oil. With very promising test results, the company has been aggressively developing this game-changing innovation, working with several heavy oil and oil sands operators around the world.
Having completed numerous tests and filed patents for two different technology platforms between 2010 and 2015, Acceleware announced a partnership with GE Global Research in 2016 to further test and commercialize its patent-pending RF heating technology. We have now successfully completed an initial field test and are focused on completing a commercial scale pilot deployment, commencing in 2017. Full scale commercialization is slated for 2020.
