Acceleware’s seismic solutions propel today’s data processing revolution. Our solution provides a multi-fold performance increase to reduce lengthy processing times and deliver faster business decisions for the seismic industry. The Acceleware software solution harnesses the massively parallel processing power of GPU accelerators to dramatically increase the efficiency of data centers and reduce total cost of IT ownership.

Migration is the most common seismic data processing method used to recover subsurface images of the earth's interior using surface-recorded data volumes obtained from seismic reflection surveys. By accelerating the computation within this method, Acceleware uncovers the potential for increased resolution, faster turn-around, and better quality confidence while handling larger datasets of increasing complexity.

What is Seismic Migration?

Seismic Migration is a data-processing technique that creates an image of the earth’s structure from the data recorded by a seismic reflection survey. The seismic industry has used simple reconstructions of these echoes, called stacked selections, to locate buried oil reservoirs and pockets of natural gas.

When compared to stacked sections, seismic processing such as Kirchhoff Pre-Stack Time Migration (KPSTM) allows the echoes to ‘migrate’ to their true subsurface position; therefore the term ‘migration’ is used. Migration processing is required to accurately image the subsurface in geologically complex areas.

What is Reverse Time Migration?
Reverse Time Migration (RTM) is a state-of-the-art technique for imaging subsurface geological structures from recorded seismic data. The strength of RTM stems from the fact that it fully respects the two-way acoustic wave equation, thus improving imaging in areas where complex geology violates the assumptions made in Kirchhoff or one-way wave equation migrations.

Acceleware’s RTM solution is patent pending.

What is Kirchhoff Time Migration?

Kirchhoff Pre-Stack Time Migration is the most popular migration method in the seismic data processing industry because of its simplicity, efficiency, and feasibility. However processing time can consume weeks or months of compute time. Acceleware’s seismic libraries have been specifically tuned to address KPSTM data to increase the processing speed with the use of NVIDIA® Tesla™ GPUs.

Environmental Benefits

Acceleware’s solutions use 70% less power.

Acceleware is dedicated to providing energy efficient product solutions through our Eco-Friendly AXE Certified program. We continue to generate solutions that provide massive processing power with a smaller environmental footprint. Acceleware’s solution utilizes 75% less space – enabling an increase of processing capability within our existing footprint.

Give yourself the potential savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars for infrastructure upgrades such as additional power and cooling with Acceleware. You will appreciate lower rental costs for floor space, lower power costs, with an increase of processing capability.

With an estimated savings of over $3,500 per year per accelerated server or tens of thousands per year for large installations, Acceleware has the eco-friendly solution for you and your business needs.

How Can Acceleware's Solutions Help?

Acceleware provides access to the massively parallel, multithreaded compute resources of GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). GPUs can dramatically accelerate computations that are inherently parallel and data intensive. Acceleware developers can optimize parallelization through vectorization of code and detailed knowledge of the hardware.

Acceleware is currently accelerating Techco’s SUMMIG by up to 8X; this is a comparison of wall clock time for the entire migration including I/O. There have been speedups reported of 80X, however this is for portions of algorithms and not for commercial software packages.
