What is Image Reconstruction?

Image reconstruction is a way to generate three dimensional images from a series of X-ray projections.

AxRecon

Acceleware’s AxRecon solution accelerates image reconstruction for micro-CT scanning with the processing power of GPUs (graphics processing units).

Acceleware's AxRecon solution is composed of Acceleware's ClusterInABox™ and HP's 9400 Workstation, and the AxRecon Batch Manager. The AxRecon Batch Manager is a simple GUI (graphical user interface) that allows users to specify and order scans to be reconstructed and prioritized in real-time.

AxRecon speeds up to 12,000 megabackprojections/second, works with your current workflow, and enables you to specify the destination of reconstructive data with a recommended reconstruction matrix size of 1200x1200x1200.

With the advances in imaging technology large pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology, and academics are turning to new techniques to obtain valuable data. Computed tomography has developed dramatically over the last few years enabling scientists to perform new experiments and obtain more detailed data. One of the major setbacks that remain is the ability to reconstruct data in a timely manner. This can produce time lags of days or months to obtain reconstructed datasets of complete studies.
