Radio Frequency Heating for Canadian Oil Sands – An Emerging Technology
Join Pedro Vaca, Senior Reservoir Engineer at Acceleware, for an informative presentation on radio frequency heating for producing heavy oil. An emerging technology, RF heating is an innovative thermal enhanced oil recovery method with the potential to provide an efficient production solution for heavy oil in general and bitumen in particular. This presentation will include an overview of RF heating system and how it can be applied in clastics, carbonates and other reservoir rock types. Parameters affecting the antenna performance will be examined and case studies will be shared. The case studies include vertical and horizontal deployments for improving the oil recovery, as well as application for other purposes, such as oil sampling and lifting.
